Unkle Funkle

Unkle Funkle is one of the funkiest and most versatile dance bands in the Carolinas!

Reviews

"Unkle funkle, I wanted to say Thank You one more time for the awesome performance that you guys put on at the reception. You guys were absolutely fantastic. I think every guest at the event came up to me that night and told me how great and fun you guys were. I was told by many folks that you were the best live band that they have seen in years, not best wedding band, best band. You guys were so fantastic and really made our wedding something that everyone could enjoy. I also want to thank you for all of your assistance leading up to the event. I appreciated you keeping in contact with me and making sure that you knew exactly the kind of music we were looking for and how we wanted the reception to be MCd. Also, I did not mention it before, but your dinner set was great. This was not something we had talked about, but you guys did a great job with it. Thanks again and I look forward to hearing you guys play somewhere downtown soon. "

"Unkle Funkle is a gem! The guitarist provided music for our guests before the ceremony, and then he performed a beautiful rendition of Cannon in D for the wedding processional. It set the tone for our ceremony and made for an unforgettable evening on the Ashley River. Following the ceremony, the guitarist joined the rest of the Unkle Funkle Trio for our cocktail hour entertainment. They made my night! In fact, when my wedding planner came to tell me that it was time for dinner, I insisted on them playing a couple more songs first. "

"Now that the dust has settled, as the mother of the bride, what I realize is that no matter how much planning you do, if the band isn't good, you'll walk away not being able to say, "Everything was perfect."  Unkle Funkle's musicians are the consummate professionals, unmatched for their ability to read the crowd and respond to their energy.  They are electrifying!  When planning a wedding, the arduous task is determining where you want to spend your money.  If you are vacillating between a DJ and a band, choose the band.  Eliminate the draped ceiling on the patio for $1000, or the take away gifts that everyone throws away and apply that money to a band that will etch a permanent memory into every guest that has celebrated with you.  Because we had never had the pleasure to hear Unkle Funkle, we relied on the reviews that others had written, as well as the expertise of Trey Hanchey from Other Brothers Entertainment.  Every word written or spoken is true....and more.  Their talent is phenomenal, their passion for music is obvious and their spirit is contagious.  Vince Rivers works carefully with you to assure that all your wishes come true.  My wish for anyone reading this is that Unkle Funkle is part of your celebration too!"

"We had such a great time with them! Vince was so great to work with, personally called me to go over everything, and accommodated everything that I needed. They learned our wedding song so that they could play it, and even played a recorded version of my father/daughter song, per my father's request. They were great, I have received sooo many compliments on them! OtherBrother was wonderful to work with! Bryan was great, also personally called me, and sent me a list of bands that he felt fit all of the criteria that I wanted. He was very prompt, thorough, and made this all a great experience!"

"Jon & I just got back from our honeymoon & had an amazing time!  We didn't email, text, etc. while away, but I wanted to write you as soon as we got back to say a huge & heartfelt THANK YOU!!!  I cannot even begin to express what a magical & unforgettable wedding celebration it was for us!"

"We wanted to say THANK YOU to you (Unkle Funkle) for putting on an amazing show during our reception. All throughout the evening and afterward our family and friends kept saying that you guys were the best, most fun wedding band they had ever seen - and we agree! Thanks also for being so accommodating and responsive leading up to the wedding as well - that really made a big difference in those last few stressful weeks of planning. We will definitely recommend you guys to other couples we know getting married"

Vince and the guys with Unkle Funkle are awesome! My family typically uses large bands for events and I was originally looking for a band with more members, more instruments, a horn section, etc. When multiple people suggested Unkle Funkle we went with them based on reputation only. Vince, the leader, was wonderfully responsive and helped us choose songs/plan the night along the way. Before the wedding I was terrified that Unkle Funkle would disappoint my family that is so used to huge bands and dancing all night. My father kept expressing his doubts that they would be able to do what we wanted them to do and keep my wild, Philly/New York family dancing all night. Sure enough, they not only kept us dancing all night but blew my dads and my expectations out of the water. Our guests loved them, Vince accommodated every request I had for the night and most importantly my husband and I had the time of our life at our wedding. They play a fantastic set and transition seamlessly between songs. They played a jazz set during our cocktail hour that was perfect to set the mood as guests arrived. The reception was an amazing time because of our band and many guests are still raving about their sound. Ultimately, the best part of it all is that I get to tell my dad, "I told you so!" when he compliments the music from the night. They are definitely worth looking into and are worth significantly more than they charge!

  • Wedding: 05/24/2014

Since 2005, this Charleston, South Carolina based band has a repertoire that's suited for "Today's Bride & Groom." We are not your mother's wedding band! Our song list is built upon the music of your life, the special songs you grew up with to music that currently keeps you moving, including several of today's current hits. We also perform memorable music from the 90's & 80's, Classic Motown & Soul, Funk & Disco, as well as timeless classics and Jazz.

Our goal is that everyone, Mom & Dad, Aunts & Uncles, Grandma & Grandpa, even your teenage nieces & nephews will hear their favorite music throughout the evening. We can also provide ceremony music and perform an acoustic cocktail set with classical/Spanish guitar, upright bass and hand percussion. The band includes founder & drummer/ bassist/ vocalist Vince Rivers, guitarist/ vocalist Chris Dodson, bassist/ percussionist/ vocalist Jett Black, and saxophonist Ian Sanchez. Simply put, this band plays music that “feels good.”
